Baxter among pharma and medical device companies named leaders in gender equality

The Australian Government has named Baxter ANZ among the top employers in Australia for gender equality for a fourth consecutive year.

The Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) listed Baxter alongside five pharmaceutical and medical companies in the list of 2018-19 WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (EOCGE) citation holders.

The list included Baxter, AbbVie, Becton Dickinson, Johnson & Johnson and MSD.

The Australian Government’s prestigious EOCG is awarded to organisations who set the benchmark for gender equality in the workplace.

General Manager Baxter Australia and New Zealand Steven Flynn said Baxter was honoured to be recognised for a fourth consecutive year as a leader in gender equality.

"Baxter is extremely proud of its unwavering commitment to gender equality in the workplace," said Mr Flynn.

"Our local workforce is diverse and equally represented by men and women so it is critical we have the policies and programs to support gender equality, career development and the wellbeing of all our employees.

"As one of Australia’s largest diversified healthcare companies, we recognise our role in championing diversity and inclusion in the workplace for our industry."

Last year Baxter was named the "2018 Women in MedTech Champion" by the Medical Technology Association of Australia for its commitment to promoting gender equality in the medical device industry.
