PVC Recycling Questionnaire

Baxter IV Fluid bags are manufactured in the Baxter manufacturing plant in New South Wales, Australia and have been for over 50 years. The fluid bags are made with PVC which is recyclable and can be used to make many other products. Baxter has been supporting PVC recycling programs with hospitals, waste companies and Australian vinyl producers for many years. The Hospital PVC recycling program is currently in place in more than 280 hospitals across Australia, diverting more than 100 tonnes of PVC from landfill each year with the potential to divert much more.

You can download educational posters for the program from here Sustainability | Baxter Professional Australia and you may also find the following link useful for understanding the process and sharing with your team.  https://www.vinyl.org.au/pvc-recycling-in-hospital

The PVC recycling programs are successful where participating sites have an enthusiastic champion, an engaged team and executive support. Cross contamination of the PVC waste in hospitals can result in incineration of the waste, rather than recycling, and therefore have a negative impact on our carbon footprint.
